This bill authorizes an employer to exempt specified seasonal employees from coverage under the unemployment compensation system, requires notice of exemption, and provides a definition of a seasonal employee.  HB0068 will be combined into this bill, HB0049, in an effort to meet federal compliance.

WAM ACTION: 2/14/18

WAM members have been working with the Labor committee since April to try to allow an exemption to municipal seasonal employees.  Based on multiple attempts with the Dept of Workforce Services, LSO and Labor committee this direction may not have a resolution to help municipal employers but only actual seasonal employers.  WAM will continue to work with members, DWS, and the Legislature to find solutions at the municipal level.  A substitute bill for HB0049 will be introduced to House recommending a study to define Wyoming seasonal employers and alternatives for other employers that have seasonal employees.
